Handmade Katana Folded Steel Sword for Enthusiasts
This blade is made of folded steel and has been folded 12 times to create 4096 layers, increasing the flexibility and hardness of the blade, with a distinct texture left on the blade as a result of the repeated folding during the manufacturing process. The overall length of the sword is 40.5 inches (104 cm), with a nagasa (blade length) of 27.8 inches (70.5 cm) and a handle length of 10.6 inches (27 cm). The blade features a chu-kissaki (medium-sized point) and a shinogi-zukuri (ridged) blade shape. The blade width near the habaki (blade collar) is 1.26 inches (3.2 cm), while the blade width near the kissaki is 0.91 inches (2.3 cm).
The sword is equipped with a bo-hi (blood groove) on each side of the blade, which not only lightens the blade but also helps balance it to achieve optimal performance. Two seppas (spacers) secure the tsuba (hand guard), which is made of iron. The habaki is of brass composition. The saya (sheath) is made of hard wood and has been lacquered to a high gloss finish. The sage-o (cord) is tied around the kurikata (knob) of the saya, and the koiguchi (scabbard mouth) and kojiri (scabbard tip) have been hardened.
The sword comes with a full-length tang and is sharpened, making it a truly battle-ready samurai sword. It is a brand new condition item, with a package weight of 2.0 kg. The handle material is hard wood and ray skin, providing a comfortable and secure grip. If you prefer the sword without the bo-hi, the seller can customize it for you.
Please note that the sword is attached with a saya and a free silk bag, but the box and stand are not included. This sword is pure hand-forged using the traditional hand-forged method, ensuring exceptional quality and craftsmanship.
